The grant based funding structure of humanitarian aid programs has hamstrung software development teams from being able to create sustainable software applications whose purpose is tied to the humanitarian aid sector. Both the private sector and non-profit organizations struggle to ensure that software cost is properly scoped when humanitarian aid programs negotiate grant funding.
The Federation solves this issue by centralising funding through our democratically controlled organization, run and operated by both open-source communities and humanitarian aid programs across the sector. Thus ensuring that humanitarian aid projects gain maximum impact.
